Comeback Story

Janeke's Comeback with REHAFABRIK

Sometimes the road back to sports feels endless. That’s exactly how it was for Janeke: After her injury and two cruciate ligament surgeries, her dream of a comeback seemed out of reach. With hard work, plenty of team spirit, and a healthy dose of humor, she fought her way back, step by step, to her favorite activity: handball.

THERAPEUTIC GOAL

Back to the (handball) arena

DURATION OF THERAPY

9 months

Therapeutic focus:

The goal was to gradually reintroduce Janeke to the physical demands of sports in a safe and confident manner following her injury and two surgeries. The focus was not only on the stability of her knee, but above all on helping her regain confidence in her own body and making her return to the court possible.

Step by step, she made her way back to the court.
Over the course of nine intense months, Janeke worked her way through every phase of rehabilitation with great discipline, team spirit, and enthusiasm, until finally the focus shifted from her knee back to the sport.

“After my injury and two surgeries, getting back into sports seemed almost impossible. But at REHAFABRIK, I never felt like a patient—I always felt like an athlete. Even though the work was hard, we never lost sight of the fun—the motivation and sense of humor were contagious. Today, my knee is strong again, my mind is clear, and I’m incredibly grateful for the support I received on my journey back.”
